Firm’s Profile and History

Cooper, Travis & Company, PLC was founded in 1981 by Richard Cooper (retired) and Philip T. Travis. Each had devoted their careers to public accounting for construction-specific clientele until that time. Partner Hillious Sullivan joined soon thereafter in 1984, and partner Matthew Hale joined the firm in 2012. After 40 successful years, the firm has become the stand-out leader serving the construction and real estate development field in the southeastern United States. Although clients are primarily located in and around Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, the firm has a significant presence throughout surrounding states, including Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia. The firm is two generations strong, with Tim Cooper joining the firm in 1998 and Philip C. Travis in 2010. The firm has a total professional staff of 18, all with extensive construction industry knowledge.

As a firm, we pride ourselves on giving our clients professional expertise and guidance unique to their industry and performing and producing on a timely basis. Our job is to adequately convey a client’s options for service and then tailor that service to provide the assurance level they need in the most efficient manner possible. As a result, we have a client retention rate above 99%. Once engaged, we rarely lose a client.
